ABOUT US

Mr. Guy Rodrigues, Co-Founder & Trustee of Sahasee Embers and his wife Mrs. Vani Guy Rodrigues, since 2009, have been involved in humanitarian work in and around the slums of Navi Mumbai. They were ordinary citizens moved by the extraordinary suffering of the people who are victims of trafficking, they began their work with practical deeds such as medical camps, cleanliness drives and awareness programs on girl safety. They provided monthly ration and during the rains distributed plastic as covering for their shanties.

In 2017, when we had conducted a medical camp in the slum of Turbhe, Navi Mumbai. We invited the sex workers of the Red Light Area to come with their Children.

On further investigation we came to know that the child was suffering from trauma. We asked the people of the red light area and they confirmed that she was the daughter of a sex worker . she had been raped at the age of 4 by her mothers customer.

LOOKING AT THE PLIGHT OF THE CHILDREN IN THE RED LIGHT AREA WE DECIDED TO MAKE IT A SAFE ZONE FOR THE CHILDREN WHO ARE AT HIGH RISK IN THE RED LIGHT AREA

Childrens were suffering from deeply rooted intergenerational exploitation. We do not cover over the fractures of the past; rather, we seek to walk alongside the victims of injustice, offering resources and opportunities by which their fractures may be mended.

SERVING AND EDUCATING CHILDREN BY ENROLLING THEM IN AN INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL, REMEDIAL EDUCATION, NIOS AND AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS

We also provide remedial education, early childhood education and after school programs. It has been a tough journey for us and without good friends it would be near impossible. We are so grateful and joyful to have such wonderful friends like you.
